Meet Zane Williams
“It’s already been an amazing journey and I can honestly say I’m doing what I love.”
“When I started to write songs, everything I wrote just sounded Country,” says Zane Williams when describing how he began his journey as a singer/songwriter. Shortly after graduating college from Abilene Christian University, Zane moved to Nashville to pursue his dream of becoming a singer/songwriter. He landed a 2 year stint as a staff songwriter and wrote numerous award winning songs. His biggest hit, “Hurry Home,” was recorded by Jason Michael Carroll and became a Billboard top 20 hit in 2010. Despite his success as a songwriter, after 9 years in Nashville, Zane was ready to call it quits.
Searching for a new career path, Zane enrolled in a seminar to learn how to make money by revitalizing neighborhoods. On the last day of the seminar, participants learned about the importance of aligning their passion with their work. Zane remembered a song he had written about chasing your dreams and offered to sing it to the small group. When he finished, the group was so impressed with his voice and songwriting; they unanimously questioned why he would do anything other than write and sing. The challenge encouraged Zane to move back to Texas and refocus on his music career. ” It was wonderful to be back close to our families,” Zane said. Adding, ” I started making fans right away and within the first few days of moving back had my music playing on one of the local radio stations.”
Zane now splits his time performing in Texas as well as a national tour schedule. In the past year, Zane has opened for Country music mega stars Alan Jackson and Martina McBride (both stories documented on Troubadour, TX). Zane continues to juggle the demands of touring with recording and writing. His current single and title track for his latest CD, ‘Overnight Success,’ is already in the top 20 on the Texas Music charts (Zane wrote all eleven songs on the album).
Zane has another song currently topping the charts. Written by him and recorded by Cody Johnson, ‘Ride with Me,’ hit number 1 on the Texas Music charts. Zane who resides in McKinney, Texas with his wife Jodi and their two children, was one of the first Artists featured in the award winning series Troubadour, TX. Zane says having a film crew document the last 3 years of his music career has been an incredible experience. Noting that viewers have watched him transition from booking all his gigs within a 90 mile radius of his home, to hitting the road for a month on a national radio promotion tour. Zane says, “It’s already been an amazing journey and I can honestly say I’m doing what I love.”
